Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is caused by Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. HIV/AIDS has no medicine till now. As such, prevention is the remedy against this disease. To prevent this disease in society, it is essentially needed that the people must increase their awareness. In this respect, illiterate and low-edu8cated people have lower awareness about this disease. Hence, to look into the awareness, knowledge and misconceptions, the present study based on survey was made in slum areas of Kalaburagi city. Totally 277 respondents who are aware about HIV/AIDS were interviewed to collect the primary data. It is summarized that, there are more misconceptions of people on HIV/AIDS and it is suggested to organize awareness camps to increase awareness of people against HIV/AIDS.

After textile, sugar industry is the second largest industry in India. Sugarcane is grown in India since ancient times. Initially in 1920s the sugar mills were started in the private sector. After independence in 1947, the initiative was taken up by the cooperative sector. This research paper attempts to review India’s position in production, productivity, crushing capacity, average consumption of sugar in comparison to some major sugar producing countries of the world. Sugar is produced hi nearly 135 countries. India ranks second after Brazil hi world sugar production. India’s share hi world sugar production is 15 percent while that of Brazil is 22 percent. But the average cane crushing capacity of India is only 3000 metric tons, while that of Thailand is 10307 metric tons. The average per hectare sugarcane yield hi Australia is 82 m.t, hi Brazil 79 m.t. while hi India it is only 69 m.t. In 2010-11 the world average sugar consumption was 24.2 kg, while that of India was 17.5 kg. India’s average sugar consumption is likely to grow up to 30 kgs by 2020-21. This the year 2010-11 India had 527 working sugar nulls with an average cane crushing capacity of 3744 metric tons. The sugar recovery was 10.17 and the total sugar output was 24.394 million tons. The sugar industry in India and particularly hi Maharashtra is passing through a crisis today. There are large number of regulations on sugar industry imposed by the Central and State Governments. But the mam contention is about the fixation of sugarcane prices. The cane farmer’s hi the country and especially in Maharashtra is agitating for remunerative prices.

The purpose of the study is to examine various factors which have an impact on employee’s engagement towards the organization. Data analysis and interpretation explains the statistical methods used by the researcher to analyze the data. IBM SPSS Statistic version 14.0 was used for this analysis and the following tools were administered 1) Reliability Test 2) Factor Analysis and 3) Multiple Regression. Reliability test was made and obtained coefficient alpha value (Cronbach’s alpha) was 0.917 and hence the data collected from the respondents is reliable. Factor analysis and Multiple Regression was used to find out the variables which influences the employee engagement induces an involvement in the organization. Based on the analysis and interpretation, interesting findings were revealed in the study by the researcher.

Devadasi are Servants of God or Goddesses and in the name of Devadasi, the women, especially of lower castes were exploited. This practice is developed and now Devadasis are facing many of the problems and challenges across different parts of Karnataka. To look into the problems and challenges of Devadasis in Raichur district, a sample survey was made and authors surveyed total 100 Devadasis, of which interviews with only 92 Devadasis are complete. The primary data collected from these 92 Devadasis are analyzed, interpreted and discussed. Self-employment, formation of Self-Help Groups, welfare schemes and rehabilitation programmes are suggested for the empowerment of Devadasis.

Of the worst form of child labour is child domestic service by girls. It consists of girls of lower age, that is below 15 years. These girls are getting lower wages, deprived from primary education, exploited and even sexually harassed by their employers. Hence, to assess the problems and to study socio-economic conditions of these girl child labourers at domestic works, a sample survey was made in Bidar district. As the territory of the field is vast covering five talukas, a sample survey of two talukas, Bidar and Basava Kalyan was made by authors. The survey consists of total 125 girl child labourers working in domestic works and interview schedule is used to collect the primary data. It is found that these respondents are getting lower wages apart from different problems such as exploitation, violence, verbal abuse and sexual harassment from their employers. It is suggested to curb girl child domestic work by suitable legislations and if it is allowed, then the compulsory responsibility of education of these labourers should be given to employers.
