Mushrooming growth of slum population exerts increased pressure on provision of minimum basic services such as housing, water supply, health, education and others basic infrastructure including sanitation. Supply of these services is one of the biggest challenges to all urban planners and policy makers. So far we have been able to deal with their needs in terms of human settlement and other amenities as ‘fire fighting’ approach and never as a ‘planned’ approach in any of the Indian cities (Suresh.V:2001). If cities do not deal with the problems of the slums in a conservative way, they will deal with the cities in a destructive way “; says Robert McNamara, former president of the World Bank. If cities do not take care of the slums, the slums will take over the cities.

Education must shift into future tense.” The Higher Education sector in India is very vast. The role of Higher Education in national development is well established. By definition, positioning is the process by which a brand (a product or service) is marketed with the goal of owning a meaningful and differentiated idea in the mind of the target. Developing the right positioning strategy is only the first step and probably only 1% of the work. But it's the most critical 1% as it makes 99% of the difference. The 99% work is known as the dramatization of the positioning strategy. When you start "making the things" that will communicate your position, they must all tether to the positioning strategy or they will be much less effective. Branding is additive. If every element of your marketing campaign is not doing its very best to build that focused meaningful and differentiated idea in the mind of your target customer, then you are not dramatizing your position in the most effective way possible.

Critical Thinking has been an important issue in education for many years. After the 1948 Convention of the American Psychological Association, Benjamin Bloom took the lead in developing “the goals of the educational process,” including knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. Critical thinking in education has been hotly debated since then. It is our job as educators to equip young students with the skills and strategies to think critically in order to solve problems. The challenge is how to transform these important instructional objectives into real, developmentally appropriate activities that are integrated onto lessons across the curriculum. Implementation of these objectives and strategies may appear difficult, but often requires only a slight shift in one’s approach to the curriculum. This article shares some definitions, outlooks, and questions to inspire you to begin thinking critically about critical thinking.
